Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American journalist and photojournalist who has covered wars and natural disasters for over 45 years, focuses on the suffering of those living in these regions. Curry has covered the conflict zones of Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in the city of Agana) is an American TV anchor, reporter as well as a journalist. Curry was best known as a correspondent on The Today Show, which was a morning news program that was broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry is known for her coverage of human-rights crises as well as natural disasters, especially in countries which have suffered the effects of war. Curry's Japanese-American mother and U.S. Navy-sailor father were both prominent figures within Curry's personal life. Her father was with the mother of her in Japan as a stationed in Japan following World War II. Due to her father's military service the family moved quite a lot. Curry graduated from high school at Ashland Oregon. In 1978, she graduated in 1978 from her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She finally graduated in Ashland high school. In Medford the following year, she began her broadcasting career at KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. At the age 22 she was the station's first female reporter. After that, she moved onto becoming an anchor and reporter for KGW which is the NBC affiliate station located in Portland. After four years, she relocating into Los Angeles as a reporter for the KCBS-TV. She was awarded the award of two Emmy Awards during the six years that she worked for this station.
